Job 34:35 (KJV) Know When to Be Silent

Job 34:35 (KJV)

Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were without wisdom.

Of this, Gill writes, “No man is wise at all times; some things had dropped from him which savoured of folly and ignorance, and which he afterwards was convinced of, and confessed with shame, Job 40:4; being charged by the Lord himself with what he is here by Elihu.”

No man is wise at all times.

Regardless of Elihu’s age, there was something Job might learn from him.

This is equally true of us all. We can learn from the most inexperienced of souls. We can even learn something from the most hateful of our enemies.

Likewise, all of us speak without wisdom once in a while. Therefore, sometimes—maybe more often than not—it is best not to say anything.

• Listen.
• Think.
• Learn.
  And be silent about it.

When it is the appropriate time to speak, God will make it plain enough.

Know When to Be Silent: Think Before You Speak

When is it wiser to remain silent than to speak? Job 34:35 reminds us that none of us is wise all the time—and sometimes we can learn something even from those we least expect.
