John 6:15 (KJV)
When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.
None can force Jesus to be their King. He refuses such an effort. He departs from those who attempt it.
Jesus gives willingly and freely.
But He does prove His disciples, sometimes in difficult ways.
Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords. But His kingdom is not of this world.
- He is King to those who submit and follow Him.
- He is King to those who partake of His flesh. This is a reference to His cross.
- He is King to those who have come to the place where they know they have no one else to turn to for the words of eternal life.
He is your King on His terms, or He is no King of yours.

True Discipleship: His Kingdom, His Conditions
Is Jesus Christ King of Your Life—On His Terms or Yours?
The crowd wanted Jesus to be their King, but they wanted Him on their own terms. Jesus walked away.
What about you? Have you surrendered your expectations, your plans, and your will to follow Christ? Or are you expecting Him to fit into the life you've already chosen?
Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords. He does not negotiate the terms of His kingship.
Don't make the mistake of wanting His blessings while refusing His authority. Believe on Him, trust His Word, and follow Him faithfully.
