Matthew 19:12 KJV
For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.
I am thinking of this passage under the influence of yesterday's thoughts out of 2 Timothy 2:4. There is the soldier who, because of the necessities of war, finds himself doing without worldly pleasures:
He may be married, but he is far from his beloved
He may have children but he must content himself with a picture rather than their company
He may have a house back home, but here his creature comforts are few
If we think today of the Eunuch as representing more than one who may not marry, but as one who is deprived of many of the worldly pleasures, we can still apply what the Lord said.
Some have to do without by birth
Some are forced into that state through circumstances (such as war)
Others may choose to do without for the sake of Jesus Christ
How I pray that more of us would get this and choose a life of less so that the cause of Christ might increase.
