Amos 8:11-12
Behold, the
days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a
famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
And they
shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall
run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.
Job said that he esteemed
God's Words more than his necessary food[1].
Without food and water a man will die. But the Word of God is more necessary to
the survival of a soul than either of these.
It is a terrible judgment to
be left without God's Word because that leaves us without God. Try as a man
might to find the true and living God
· Without the Bible and
· Without the man of God who is chosen by God to
proclaim it
It is fruitless and will only
end in dead and false religion.
We have the Word of God
today.
· We can purchase our own copy of the Bible at
prices anyone can afford
· We can find a Bible preaching Baptist church in
almost every city in our country
· We have no need to search from sea to sea from
north to east and run to and fro
We ought therefore to take
advantage of this blessing and know God by knowing God's Word.
[1] Job 23:12
Neither have I gone back from the
commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my
necessary food.
