Doctrine is instruction, teaching; delineated points of truth. Notice here that doctrine is contrasted not against lies and falsehoods but against wicked acts of behavior or practice. That doesn’t suggest that doctrine is behavior but that doctrine induces behavior. It also suggests that practice can be an antagonist to doctrine.
It is common these days to hear a progressive preacher say something like, “We’re changing the methods, not the message.” This statement cannot be true for it is impossible but that the message will dictate the methods or else the methods will influence the message.
Behavior, lifestyle and practice must compliment sound doctrine, not be contrary to it.
