Daniel 1:2 (KJV)
And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.
And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.
Nebuchadnezzar took what God gave to him, part of the vessels of the house of God, and put them into the treasure house of his god. What a brilliant picture this is of so much of what is called Christianity in America!
God has given us so much. This land is packed with treasure of every sort.
- There is land
- There are natural resources
- There is opportunity
- There is pleasure
Spiritually God has prospered America as a place where religious faith of every kind, including a multitude of Christian varieties, has left the country dotted with houses of worship.
But most Americans do not want to meet with God in His house. They prefer to take of the riches of God and put them into their own place of worship.
- It might be a place of false doctrine
- It might be a place alone and away from the people of God
- It might be a place of self-interest
In any case they merely want to add God their existing lifestyle. They have no intention of being a new man in and because of Christ.
God worked so that Nebuchadnezzar eventually became a new man. Let God work in your life for the same.
