Mark 15:37-39 (KJV)
And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost. And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom. And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.

It is a small but significant detail. Just previous to death, Jesus cried out with a loud voice. Luke 23:46 indicates that His words were, “Father, into thy hands…”
That He cried out so is given as the reason the centurion said “Truly this man was the Son of God.” It was not what Jesus cried out so much as the strength with which He cried out.
Death by crucifixion more or less caused the victim to fade slowly away. The average person would have had no strength to cry out loudly. He would have been breathless and strangling under his own weight.
That Jesus cried out loudly tells us:
- That He was not the victim of the Cross
- That He indeed gave up the ghost willingly
- Truly Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
