Zechariah 9:9 (KJV) Through the Cross

Zechariah 9:9 (KJV)
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

Here is a fascinating passage because it is so specifically fulfilled in the Gospels.[1] Christ entered Jerusalem on this foal of an ass as if to announce the monumental nature of the work about to be accomplished.

Through the cross:

• Israel is set free
• Christ’s worldwide kingdom is secured
• Hope is given to the captives of sin and
• The Gentiles are subdued

All of this is:

• Accomplished on the cross
• Included in salvation and 
• Fitted into God’s plan for the New Testament Baptist Church.

All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.
