Leviticus 10:1-2 (KJV) In Danger of Presumptuous Sin

Leviticus 10:1-2 (KJV)
And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not.And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.
There is no reason for me to judge Nadab and Abihu. God has already done that. It is more for me to learn.
These two were deeply involved in the things of God. They had personal encounters with the Lord, unlike any others except Moses and their father, Aaron. Still, they assumed more than was rightfully theirs.
It matters little how close our walk with God has been. It may be the closer we have been to God the more in danger of presumptuous sin we are. The nature of man always reaches toward its own deification. “I will be like the most high” is the inherited attitude of fallen man.
Behold to obey is better than sacrifice.

Submissive obedience is always better.
