1 Samuel 30:6 (KJV) Encouraged In The Lord

1 Samuel 30:6 (KJV)
And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.
David had been driven from his home by Saul and feared for his life from the same. Now:
  • His family had been captured
  • His stuff had been stolen and
  • His men blamed it all on him
No wonder he greatly distressed.
Yet with all that on his plate David encouraged himself in the Lord. How he did it we are not told but that he did it means we can too. I suspect he was encouraged:
  • By fellowship with God
  • By reflection on His promises and
  • By “manning up” because of God
And then he did something about it. He asked God for direction and pursued his problem.
If David could, we can.
