John 21:21-22 (KJV) How will he die?

John 21:21-22 (KJV)
Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.
This is so typical of human nature. The conversation Peter had with Jesus was intense, pointed and convicting. What better way would there have been to change the subject than to talk about someone else? Peter turned to John and asked, “What about this man?”
In this case the question was “How will he die?” But it could have been all sorts of things;
  • How much money will he make?
  • Where will he have to live?
  • What kind of job will he have?
  • How bad will he suffer in life?
  • What sins will he need to confess?
Jesus’ response is fundamental Christianity, “What is that to thee? Follow thou me.”
Our concern for others ought to only be that we love them, attempt to minister to them and seek to see them saved. Other than that it’s between them and the Lord. All we need to do is follow the Lord.
