Colossians 3:3-5 (KJV)
For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

Note the conflict of the text.
Theologically we are hidden in Christ
He is our life.

Practically we are to mortify our members
The death with Christ enables us to mortify sin but does not itself mortify the sin. This is a choice the believer makes for himself. And he makes it on a daily basis.[1]
