Revelation 22:1-2 (KJV)
And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

It is intriguing to me that the Bible begins and ends with the tree of life.
- It begins in a garden with only two people.
- It ends in a city occupied by countless numbers.
I do not know how to reconcile one tree on either side of the river. I am also not satisfied with any of the explanations I have read. I think that’s partly the point. What we experience in eternity defies our reasoning and our ability to describe or comprehend. What I am certain of is that the end of God’s plan takes us all the way back to the beginning of God’s plan. God lost nothing but time in man’s fall. And since time is irrelevant to God, He lost nothing.
Man on the other hand, gains an immeasurable treasure in between the garden and the city.
- He gains liberty
- He gains worship
- He gains companionship
- He gains light
- He gains fellowship
- He gains duty
- He gains the universe
The fall of man was not God’s fault. But the fall of man did accomplish God’s purpose.
I trust God.
