1 John 4:11 (KJV) So How Do We Love?

1 John 4:11 (KJV)
Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

The obvious responsibility of the believer is to love.

• We are to love God
• We are to love our neighbor and
• We are to love our brother in the Lord

But some people make it very difficult to love them. 

• Their actions, 
• Their attitudes, 
• Their answers to life issues 

can often repulse the believer whose sensibilities have been shaped by the teaching of God’s Word. 

So how do we love?

• Through the Holy Spirit[1]and
• Through reflection and worship of God. 

Consider that God loved us. No one but God knows better than we do that we do not deserve His love. 

• We did not deserve it for salvation. 
• We did not deserve it for His fellowship. 
• We did not deserve it for His promise of heaven. 

Further, we do not deserve in from day to day. But God did love us. And because He loved us, we can be assured He loves others. 

And if He loves others, then so ought we.

And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
