Matthew 3:9 (KJV)
And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

It’s not that God would consider making children of Abraham out of stones; it’s meant to show how much value one ought to make out of their heritage. Even the Jewish people, who have historically been among the proudest of their heritage and have paid a huge price for it, have no real merit on which to stand because of it. 

All that really counts is our relationship with God. 

• 
  Do we know Him?
• Do we hear His voice?
• Are we prone to obey and follow Him?
• Do we love Him?

So far as eternity is concerned, a rock has as much chance of heaven as a Jew, (or any other ethnicity for that matter) if all the soul relies upon is his family.
