Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they be all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.
I imagine every preacher of God’s Word has felt like this at one time or another. We have lofty ideals. We desire to be sold out to God. We wish to preach to people who are sold out to God. We long to see our community, our country, our world sold out to God.
“Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
Verily, this is not our experience.
Our world is in turmoil- Our country is divided
- Our community is not godly
- Our churches are far from perfect the fact is
- Our very selves have not attained unto righteousness
Would to God we had a way of escape, a place to go to hide from it all.
Truth be told, God has not provided such a place on earth. We are here, just as Jeremiah was, to minister in the midst of this “assembly of treacherous men.”
Stay the course. God’s will is being done.
