Acts 1:2 (KJV)
Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:
Later on in this chapter, Peter will make an issue of Judas; a matter that provokes some disagreement among students of the Bible. Perhaps Peter would have been best to leave the subject alone. We know God had a twelfth man already in the making. What I notice is that Jesus moved on in His ministry without flinching over Iscariot. Even minus the betrayer, the eleven were, “the apostles whom He had chosen.”
We likely do a great deal of damage when we focus on those who:
- aren’t what we wish them to be or
- aren’t with us anymore or
- are making trouble among us
It would be best if we simply focused on what we are called and enabled to do – be witnesses for Jesus.
