So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
So that…
This phrase takes us to, Hebrews 13:5 (KJV)
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
I think we would be quick to say that we can boldly say the Lord is our help because He will never leave us or forsake us. It is a comforting thought and helpful in times of trouble. But it is not the full end of the truth and perhaps not even the most helpful.
Just as we have no reason to fear because the Lord will never leave us or forsake us, we have no reason to covet because the very same Lord will never leave us or forsake us. The same God who helps us also provides for us. We have every reason, then, to be confident in trouble and content in materials.
