Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
There is no new revelation, at least not in our time. There was in Peter’s.
But that does not mean we know all the revelation of God or that we know it perfectly.
- We can be shown that which we have not seen in God’s Word before
- We can be reminded of those things we have forgotten in God’s Word
- We can be taught an application of God’s Word we have not considered before
The apostles and brethren in Jerusalem did what so many of us do when we hear something we have not heard before:
- They contended against it
- They withstood it
- They buckled up their backs and pushed against it
But when Peter explained what God had done and clearly expounded the Word of God to them, they bowed to the will and Word of God.
May we be willing to do the very same.
