Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
Ephesians chapter two is one of the most powerful chapters of the New Testament.
Consider the scope of just these three verses.
Salvation as it relates to our past
“We were dead in sins” In other words, we needed to be saved. No one has ever been fit for heaven before salvation.
Salvation as it relates to our present
“By grace ye are saved.”
Look at this list of present-day benefits:
- Hath quickened is together
- Raised us up together
- Made us sit together in heavy places
Salvation as it relates to our future
“In the ages to come” Then God shows us the riches of His grace and kindness.
