So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:
The theme of the coming of the Lord is so prevalent in the Word of God that even in this letter, to a fractured, worldly, and confused church, the Word of God says they waited for the coming of the Lord.
And no wonder!
- Though they were fractured, the coming of the Lord would bring unity
- Though they were worldly, the coming of the Lord would cause them to be blameless
- Though they were confused, the coming of the Lord would give clarity
The doctrine of Christ’s coming is one of the Bible’s most important and most emphasized. It is no wonder that Satan has attacked this doctrine to such an extent that
- The Catholics don’t believe it,
- The Protestants don’t preach it,
- The Fundamentalists disagree on it, and even
- The Baptists have lately come to toy around with it
Jesus is coming again
- In the clouds, to receive the Christians to heaven ahead of the Tribulation
- With the saints, at the end of the Tribulation to establish His kingdom
- At the end of the world, to be the light of the New Heavens and New Earth
