What man is he that liveth, and shall not see death? shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave? Selah.
As much as people would like to forget it, here is a plain and unavoidable truth. All of us will “see death.”
- As much as the health gurus try to teach us to be healthy
- As much as the medical profession tries to keep us alive longer
- As much as some of the wealthy weird look for ways to prevent it through things like cryogenics or brain transplants
There is no way around it; it is impossible to “deliver his soul from the hand of the grave.”
But the message, though unavoidable, is not meant to be hopeless. Quite the opposite is the case. God confronts us with the inevitable prospect so we might seek from Him the glorious alternative.
We may not escape the hand of the grave, but we can defeat the sting of death.
Through faith in Christ, we can turn the reality of death into the doorway of eternal life.
Faithless men waste their time running from the grave. If he would instead run to Christ, he would discover there is nothing at all wrong with the grave.
