Revelation 8:3 (KJV)
And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.
I find here some fascinating imagery: the prayers of the saints aided by incense from the altar.
Barnes writes of this: “No one can doubt that, in a time of such impending calamities, the church would be earnestly engaged in devotion. Such has always been the case in times of danger; and it may always be assumed to be true, that when danger threatens, whether it be to the church at large or to an individual Christian, there will be a resort to the throne of grace.”
And here we learn that when such times of distress occur, our prayers are assisted—not so much by the angels, though they may be attendants—but by the altar of incense, the anticipation and predisposition of our Almighty God.
We are assured in the Word that Jesus Christ “ever liveth to make intercession” for us. Yet more than that, God has pre-planned a means by which our prayers might be lifted higher, quicker, and more effectively into His ears.
He wants to hear our prayers.
And when He hears, He acts and answers.

Incense to Our Words: Help from the Throne
🙏 Prayer is not forgotten in Heaven—it rises before the throne like incense. Revelation 8:3 reminds us that God not only hears but delights to answer the prayers of His people.
