Deuteronomy 5:1 (KJV) Learn It. Keep It. Do It.

Deuteronomy 5:1 (KJV)

And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them.

Moses said Israel should hear the statutes and judgments for three reasons: that they may—

  1. Learn them
To learn is to acquire knowledge or skill, but also to be able to pass it on. The ancient Hebrew word carried the idea of a goad. To learn is not just to store information; it pricks us and changes us. We respond to what we’ve learned. Otherwise, we’ve merely heard words.
  2. Keep them
Many of us think of “keeping” and “doing” as the same thing—practicing what we’ve learned. But keeping goes further. It means guarding. The Word of God not only teaches us to obey but also to defend and preserve it.
  3. Do them
Doing is living out what we’ve learned, applying it in daily life.

Why emphasize keeping or guarding the Word?
Because the enemy seeks to destroy it.

It is often said today that the Bible doesn’t need to be defended, only proclaimed. The problem is that many who make that claim are themselves part of the movement to change the Bible and let it slip away. They insist every version contains mistakes, that only the original documents (which no longer exist) were without error, and that scholarship alone can tell us what God really said. In effect, they have turned scholarship into their god.

I take a different stand. I believe God gave us His Word, promised to preserve His Word, is able to keep His promise, and has kept His promise in the King James Version of the Bible.

That means my responsibilities are clear:

  • To learn and teach that Bible.
  • To obey and do that Bible.
  • To keep, guard, and defend that Bible.

Learn It. Keep It. Do It.  God’s Word Is Worth Defending

📖 God’s Word is under attack—but He promised to preserve it. Do you believe the Bible we hold today is still pure and trustworthy?

Many say the Scriptures are full of errors and only the “originals” (long gone) were perfect. But God promised to keep His Word forever—and I believe He has, in the King James Bible.

✅ Learn it.
✅ Keep it.
✅ Do it.
✅ Guard it.
