Luke 20:41-44 (KJV)

And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is David's son?

And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,

Till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

David therefore calleth him Lord, how is he then his son?

I don’t suppose this is technically a riddle, but it’s certainly the crux of all the questions men have about Christ.

• How can He be both man and God?
• How can He be subject to the laws of nature and yet be the Creator of nature?
• How could He be tempted as we are, yet without sin?
• How could He be born of woman, yet exist forever?

The questions of false religions about Christ are many.

• Some question how He could be the Son of God and still be God.
• Some wonder why, if He is God, He would pray to God.

It all comes down to this: if you cannot accept the Christ of the New Testament as He is described in the New Testament—as He Himself described Himself—then whatever you believe about Jesus is wrong, and it is not saving.

I notice there is no answer given to the riddle in this text. That’s appropriate, because it is up to each of us to answer for ourselves:
What do you think of Christ?
