Revelation 19:15 (KJV) The True Warrior in the Battle for Faith

Revelation 19:15 (KJV)

And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

It is becoming increasingly clear to me how the Antichrist will be able to raise an army to fight against Almighty God.

It’s my observation that, ever since the Scope’s Monkey Trial, where secularism seemed to have successfully mocked the Christian faith, unbelievers have become bolder with the passing of years in their mockery.

·       They feel like they can confidently classify Christ with the false gods of this world.

·       They feel like they can confidently scientific solutions to the deepest of human problems, and thus replace God

·       They feel like they can confidently assume there is no future judgment.

Judgment.

That’s the rub!

If God is then judgment is.

And they are angry at the thought of judgment.

I notice, in our text, that the armies of heaven are seen to be wearing white robes, but Jesus is shown to be battle ready. Though this picture is prophetic, I believe it is also instructive. It is not our place to wear the robes of the warrior so much as our place to stand behind the great Lion of the Tribe of Judah. We are an army. But to only one who has the right to have “blood on His Sword” is Jesus.

No wonder the lost of the world are defensive and angry at Jesus.

·       Out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword

·       He shall rule with a rod of iron and

·     He treadeth the wine press of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God

The lost and unsaved of the world fight because they refuse to surrender. They fight because they think they can win.

I know where faith really rests. Faith rests in that, in the end, God wins.

That faith leads to genuine surrender.

Isaiah 35:3 (KJV) Building Faith, One Word at a Time

Isaiah 35:3 (KJV)

Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.

This is a wonderful ministry to practice in a time of trouble; to strengthen the weak and confirm the feeble. The ministry of reassurance, of building faith, of passing down what God has given us to another, is a precious work indeed.

But it is not often an easy work.

For the one thing, our hands often grow weak, and our knees frequently get feeble. We are not immune to the troubles of life or the storms in the seas. The barrage of the enemy of the soul is directed at us as well as those to whom we attempt a ministry.

For another, our ministry is one of words. “Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God…”

Whatever we can do to strengthen and confirm is done with ideas and through faith. The enemy knows it and has mastered the art of words. Eve attempted to spar with him on that level and failed.

I believe the appropriate way to minister is to use our words, not so much to wrestle with unbelief as to communicate the fact of belief. Point souls to Christ. He is their help. And then - and this is perhaps the most challenging part - drop it. Leave it in the hands of God.

Isaiah 33:17 (KJV) Eyes Fixed Forward

Isaiah 33:17 (KJV)

Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off.

I was thinking of how much of the Bible deals with future things. It all begins, a heartbeat after the first sin with Genesis 3:15. The solution to sin's quagmire lies in the future. I believe the very essence of faith hinges on trusting God for what lies ahead.

To be sure, we have to live in the now, and God gives wise instruction for living. But few pay attention to those instructions, who have no faith in the future things.

So, the Word says “Thine eyes shall see.” God's promises for Israel were, and still are, future. At this very moment, Jerusalem falls short of the grandeur God foretells. Once, they beheld their King, but they crucified Him. Presently, Israel grapples with conflict against Hamas. Support from Christians and conservatives, whether for political reasons or hopeful aspirations, doesn't capture the full scope of what God intends for Israel. They shall see their King. In days to come, Jesus will reign in Jerusalem.

And, Christian, the pinnacle of your promises awaits in the future. Live for God today, anchored in faith for what will unfold then.

Revelation 17:4 (KJV) The Woman in Scarlet

Revelation 17:4 (KJV)

And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:

Revelation seventeen was one of the very first chapters of the Bible I remember hearing expounded. Pastor Fred Scudder described, on that first Sunday I went to church, how that the great whore, this woman of Revelation seventeen is a city on seven hills and represents the one world religion of the end times. He described her colors and clothing and then proclaimed her to be Catholicism.

I shared that with a young man named Forest Jenkins, who immediately went to the library and researched it then came back and told me he agreed. He was saved shortly thereafter.

Over the more than forty years since I first learned that, many world events have transpired, many of them related to religion. Just the other day I heard where Mark Driscoll[1] says it is consistent with Islam.

God is eternal and knows no time. But His prophets and penmen were all bound by the world in which they lived. God superintended so that what they wrote was consistent with their world experience and is, at the same time, the eternal and living word of God. John, who wrote nearing the end of the first century, would have witnessed the early stages of what became Catholicism. Mohammed the founder of Islam wouldn’t be born yet for several hundred years.

While I have no doubt that Islam will play a significant role in the end time one world religion, I believe it is most likely that Islam,[2] along with all of Catholicism’s Protestant offspring,[3] will unite with Catholicism to form the one world religion of the final days.

Revelation 17:4 (KJV) The Woman in Scarlet

[1] https://youtu.be/GAjPHdjLi0c?si=2pl2cIT9Q7Yd2vB2, I am not a fan of Driscoll. I only intend to point out that, as times have changed, people have stopped seeing Catholicism as the problem it was (and still is) and have begun to focus on what we perceive to be the next big threat.

[2] An argument can be made that Islam, if not a child of Catholicism itself, is a response to Catholicism.

[3] The woman is said to be “the mother of harlots.” Protestantism springs from Catholicism and I believe will return to her. Already I’ve seen many within the Lutheran denomination return to Catholicism. I never surprises me when someone tells me they used to be Christian but converted to Catholicism. This is the direction the Bible indicates things will go in preparation for the judgment day of the Lord.

Isaiah 31:6 (KJV) Contemporary Challenges and Spiritual Choices

Isaiah 31:6 (KJV)

Turn ye unto him from whom the children of Israel have deeply revolted.

I continue to be impressed with how much the days of Isaiah appear to be like our own. It was a different era, Before Christ. It was a different area, the Middle East. It was a different political environment. The superpower of the day was Egypt.

But it was just like right now.

Many of those who profess faith had revolted against God. The nation, weakened through the lack of faith and the degradation that causes, were threatened by outside forces. In the face of this threat, the obvious answer seemed to be Egypt.

But God says He would destroy both it and those who trust in it.

Christianity, for the most part, is in a spiritual mess. The greatest number of professing Christians are part of denominations that rebelled against God hundreds of years ago, some thousands. This has left us all vulnerable to the emboldened tribes of ungodly. Where will we go for refuge? I appeal to those who read this not to flee into the strongholds of religion. Reformation doctrine might seem like a spiritual superpower, but it is not where Jesus is. Reformation, as will all of Protestantism, will return to their religion mother and be destroyed. Turn ye instead, to Him from whom they all revolted.

·       Turn to Christ

·       Turn to the local Baptist church

·     Turn to the only source of fellowship that has any claim to Christ outside of Catholicism.

Are the Baptists perfect? Absolutely not. But there is nowhere else remotely attached to the promise of Christ in Matthew 16:18.[1]

Isaiah 29:12 (KJV) Excuses and Insights

Isaiah 29:12 (KJV) Excuses and Insights

Isaiah 29:12 (KJV)

And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned.

John Gill, commenting on this passage, writes, “Kimchi says was an excuse invented, because he had no mind to read it, or otherwise he could have said, open, and I will read it; or he might have broke off the seal; but knowing there were difficult things, and things hard to be understood, in it, did not care to look into it, and read it.”

In verse eleven, he will not read, claiming the book is closed to him, verse twelve, he will not read claiming he is unlearned.

And so it is with the Word of God. It is impossible to be grasped from the carnal nature, and those with what they believe to be wisdom often refuse to look into it.

The Bible is not difficult to read. Any fourth grader can read and understand the words. But the message is a supernatural one that frustrates the wise of this world and is senseless to the brute. It reveals itself only to those who can hear from the Spirit of God.

1 Corinthians 2:14 (KJV)

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
